Navigational Starlight
Stars of the galaxy
Galaxies of the universe
I clutch single rays
To sketch star charts
Of limitless life.
Open. Open wide
Scope of soul
For ray of distant star
I absorb you
To feel your warmth
To hear your melody.
Why
One might wonder
Why one does
What one does,
and while one wonders
why one does
what one does,
One will find
That one has done
What one was doing.
Greetings Inhabiters of Earth, henceforth to be known as Earthlings, I am Ward Joseph Jarman, named in honor of both of my grandfathers: Thomas Ward Jarman and William Joseph White. I am the father of twin sons each of whom has my name split between them via their middle names. One has the middle name of Ward and the other has the middle name of Joseph. I am keenly and tightly enthralled with history. The flow of history is actually akin the flow of evolution just like the water cycle of Earth evaporates water from the great oceans, seas, lakes and rivers to fall back as diverse forms of precipitation.
During the course of the evolution of my consciousness, I was informed by my most favorite English Studies professor that writing was quite easy if you had clarity of mind.
Thinking clearly about your chosen topic was the core challenge to master. I have found this guiding observation too true! Hence creative writing was the vehicle driving my consciousness for clarity of mind.
I am 73 going on to 74 and I began my journey through creatively seeking clarity of mind during my high school years of 1965 – 69. The anthology of this journey is encapsulated in One Bipedal Journey with the composition Air which would become the first third of Three-thirds of One-third Three Times. Three-thirds of One-third Three Times was the first step taken around 1968 and continues one step at a time through One Bipedal Journey which ends with The Divine Paradox (© 2020). My last major manuscript completed thus far is What Is the Function of ____? (© 2024). This blog is the record of my consciousness evolving throughout the events of my life that has formed the mindfulness of this old man.
Art and Resonance
Art is the quintessential form of self expression, no matter what the media. As such, it is truth, refracted through the prism of an individual’s life experiences. For this reason, art cannot be evaluated quantitatively, or qualitatively. Its resonance with an individual is the essential function of art. This resonance is the product of the interaction between the viewer/audience and the manifested art in its native form. In short, the ongoing function of art is the continuous conversations/interactions that the piece of art has with the audience/viewer who is interacting with it at any moment in time.
